Welcome to Zoological society of Pakistan.

The Zoological Society of Pakistan (ZSP) was founded in 1968 as an interdisciplinary scientific society that would draw together members from diverse scientific backgrounds under the unified discipline of Zoology. The objectives as defined in the Society's constitution are:

  • Promotion of scientific knowledge of animals and of related subjects through discussions, reports and publications.

  • Stimulation of scientific investigations and their applications.

  • Planning, organization and administration of projects for the advancement of scientific knowledge in Zoology.

  • Improvement of education and of professional qualifications in Zoology.

  • Promotion of international cooperation in achieving the above objectives.

Anyone claiming or insinuating this relationship is making FALSE statement. This explanation was necessary because a society (Applied Zoological Society of Pakistan, abbreviated as AZSP) emanating from GC University, Faisalabad has not only adopted similar type of name, but is also advertising all the activities which are hallmark of Zoological Society of Pakistan thus creating confusion among Zoologists/ Biologists/Animal Scientists, nationally and internationally. 4. In Biological Sciences, the top five positions have been earned by PAS Fellows, i.e., Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Prof.Dr. Sheikh Riazuddin, Prof.Dr.M.Ajmal Khan, Prof.Dr. Abdul Rauf Shakoori, and Prof. Dr.M.Anwar Waqar(deceased). Prof. Ashraf also holds the overall 2nd top position after Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, followed by Prof. M. Iqbal Chaudhary.




5. The Academy conferred the award of Distinguished Scientist of the year 2011 in the discipline of Zoology upon Prof. Dr. Abdul rauf Shakoori, School of Biological Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore.Prof. Dr. Shakoori was presented with a Medal, Certificate and a cash Prize of Rs. 330,000/= by President of PAS, Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman.




6. Dr Farah Rauf Shakoori has won the Pakistan Academy of Sciences Open Gold Medal (2014) in the field of Zoology in recognition of her outstanding contribution to research work.
