South Asian Journal of Zoology

The Zoological Society of Pakistan (ZSP) has decided to rename its 43 year old publication - Proceedings of Pakistan Congress of Zoology as South Asian Journal of Zoology with an aim to increase the possibility of its recognition by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan as regular scientific journal. The HEC has been reluctant to accept the arguments of Zoological Society of Pakistan and its request for recognition of its publication - Proceedings of Pakistan Congress of Zoology as regular credible scientific publications has not been accepted. Even the evidence provided in the form of similar type of publications: a world renowned publication - Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences, USA arl the HEC recognized Proceedings of Pakistan Academy of Sciences as regular scientific journals has not convinced the HEC to categorize Proceedings of Pakistan Congress of Zoology as scientific journal. It is in that backdrop, ZSP has decided to rename its publication - Proceedings of Pakistan Congress of Zoology (PK ISSN 1013-346), first published in 1980, as South Asian Journal of Zoology.The new name becomes effective from volume 43 (2025). It will be a peer reviewed biannual publication, publishing original research articles, Review Articles and Short Communications on all aspects of animal life in July and December every year. The articles presented by the registered participants during different academic sessions of Pakistan Congress of Zoology will be preferably published after due peer review, free of cost. This jpurnal abstracted and indexed in Biological Abstracts, Chemical Abstracts, Current Contents, Zoological Records, Information Retrieval Limited, London, Services Centrale de Documentation de l’ORSTOM, Paris, Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, Institute of Scientific Information, Moscow, etc. It is also listed in Index to Scientific and Technical Proceedings and ISI/ISTP and Online Data Base of Institute for Scientific Information, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
